Buttermere
Buttermere is a beautiful part of the world, and is quite a hidden gem. In the village itself there are two pubs, two café's and two lakes all within walking distance of the campsite. There are plenty of walks in Buttermere, whether its a long hike for a full day or just a small stroll down to the lake shore there is enough to keep you busy for days.
Syke Farm Tearoom
Syke Farm Tearoom is one of just two cafés in Buttermere, located at the top of the village, just below the church. It’s well known for its wide variety of homemade cakes, as well as gluten-free and vegan options. You can also enjoy delicious lunches and our homemade ice cream, made from the milk of our own Buttermere Ayrshire cows.
For campers, we offer a Full English Breakfast between 9am and 11am—perfect for starting your day before exploring the area.

Make the most of your BBQ at Syke Farm Campsite with our fresh, locally sourced raw meats, available to buy at Syke Farm Tearoom. Choose from a selection perfect for grilling — ideal for enjoying a relaxed evening after a day exploring the Lakes.
All meat is sold subject to availability, so we recommend checking with us on arrival if you’d like to purchase some for your stay.

Local Adventure
If you wan't to travel out of the village, the Via Ferrata and mine tours at Honister slate mine are great ways to explore, Located at the head of Honister Pass in the centre of the Lake District, Honister Slate Mine offers a range of indoor and outdoor adventures for a range of ages and abilities. Honister is also the last working slate mine in England and home to the iconic Westmoorland Green Slate.
Whinlatter Forest has lots of walks, cycle tracks and also a Go Ape high tree climb. Both these places are within 20 minutes drive from the campsite.
There are also a lot of activity centres based in Keswick for anybody wishing to go ghyll scrambling, climbing etc.
Local Towns
Keswick is a small Market Town located 8 -10 miles away from the campsite, here you will find a range of shops, cafes and pubs and there are lots of walking and camping shops if you are low on supplies.
